17,180 people granted Armenian citizenship in nine months of 2025
During the first nine months of 2025, 17,180 people were granted citizenship of the Republic of Armenia by presidential decree, which is 15.5 percent higher compared to the same period last year, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan said on Monday.
“Citizenship has been revoked for 3,166 people, which represents a 10.7 percent increase; however, overall, the number of people granted citizenship is higher,” she said at a parliamentary committee meeting on the 2026 budget bill.
The Minister noted that as of October 30, 2025, 21,916 forcibly displaced persons from Karabakh have applied for Armenian citizenship. “Citizenship has been granted to 14,064 individuals, and an additional 7,191 minors have acquired citizenship through passport issuance,” Arpine Sargsyan added.
