2 Armenians killed in Watertown car crash while heading to church after family funeral
CBS Boston
Watertown police said they responded to the serious crash on Bigelow Avenue outside the Deluxe Town Diner at about noon. Shattered glass, crushed metal and other debris were sprayed across the street from the impact.
“Upon arrival, it was determined that two individuals had succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision,” police said in a statement.
One of the vehicles involved appeared to be a Tesla. A total of five cars were towed from the scene, some with significant damage.
Hours later there were still emergency vehicles, firefighters and police at the taped-off scene. The Medical Examiner’s office also had a van parked nearby.
The victims have not yet been identified by police. But the music director of the Armenian Memorial Church just down the street told WBZ-TV that the two people who died were family members who had just left a cemetery after a relative’s funeral, and were headed to the church for a meal with fellow mourners.
The music director described the victims as faithful people, who abundantly gave their time and talents to serve the church.
