Even Azerbaijan starts doubting Armenia PM Pashinyan’s reelection
Hraparak daily reported that in Washington, Azerbaijan gave Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan carte blanche to reproduce himself in 2026 under the guise of false peace propaganda, and then fulfill its demands. But in the ruling Civil Contract Party and its parliamentary faction they say that even in Baku they have begun to doubt his reelection, and therefore they want to get what they want as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated that “the issue of the return of 4 enclaves is in its focus of attention.” Pashinyan responded: “As a result of border delimitation, we must return Artsvashen and other occupied sovereign territories [to Azerbaijan].” In reality, this is an announcement of the concession of Tigranashen, which will create a risk that one day Vayots Dzor and Syunik Province could be cut off from Armenia. And the return of Artsvashen will give nothing, because it cannot be resettled.
Pashinyan had, of course, promised to carry out this deal after the 2026 parliamentary elections in June, because he realizes that after handing over Tigranashen, his chances of reproducing himself will become zero, but if Baku puts its foot down, it is possible that the Armenian authorities may rush into snap elections.
