American Journalist Sounds Alarm on EU Officials ‘Shilling’ for Baku on ‘Western Azerbaijan’ Issue
Award-winning American journalist Lindsey Snell
Azerbaijan’s false narrative about the so-called “Western Azerbaijan,” which claims that most of modern-day Armenia is part of “historic Azerbaijan,” and contains demands for return of the Azerbaijan population to their “homeland” is receiving wide support from the European Union and certain official, American journalist Lidsay Snell warned on Monday.
In a post on X, Snell wrote that “Western Azerbaijan community” has an increasing number of Europeans with government ties “shilling” for them
Snell sounded the alarm, adding that there have been suggestions by some of the European officials to organize a “Western Azerbaijan” in Germany.
Speaking in Germany last week, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan challenged President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to work together to simultaneously “drop” the issues of the so-called “Western Azerbaijan” and the right for Artsakh Armenians to return to their homeland from future discussion.
Pashinyan’s latest statement that compared the legitimate rights of Artsakh Armenians to the fictitious claims by the Azerbaijani leader, was in response to official Baku’s demands regarding the recently signed EU-Armenia cooperation agreement.
