Nadine Takvorian’s book ‘Armaveni’: family secrets and Armenian-American heritage
The upcoming book in March of Nadine Takvorian’s ‘Armaveni’ is a semi-autobiographical graphic novel.
Growing up, Nadine never knew her family stories of the Armenian genocide. When she was a teenager, her parents found the words and the courage to share their stories and memories. That led her to an engagement with her Armenian-American heritage — and the power to stand up against prejudice.
Armaveni tells Nadine’s story, depicting her life in the United States today — including a trip to Armenia when she was in high school — alongside her family’s experience being driven out of their homeland. It’s a moving, important book that provides a window into Nadine and her family’s experiences.
