New Publication Logs ‘Achievements of Armenians in Iranian National Sports Teams’
The reference book, “Sports Biographical Dictionary: Achievements of Armenians in Iranian National Sports Teams” authored and published by Hamo Vassilian, includes biographies of 235 Armenian members of Iranian National Sports Teams or Federations. These individuals have or are serving as athletes, coaches, referees, or administration within Iran’s highest level of international sporting competition. Of the 235 are 12 coaches from the Republic of Armenia.
The book is organized alphabetically and features photos of each individual. It has attempted to include all available sports-related information from both in print and online media. It contains three appendices and a comprehensive master index of over 1200 names and subjects.
The first appendix logs Iranian Armenians who participated in the Summer or Winter Olympic Games from 1948 to 2024, the second for those who did in the Summer Asian Games from 1951 to 2022, and the third is a table of 220 statistical pieces of sports-related information.
The one-of-a-kind English language compendium is made to be a resource for sports enthusiasts, scholars, and educators interested in learning the history and biographies of Iranian Armenian athletes.
Hamo Vassilian’s first reference book was published in Iran in 1979. In 1985, his first American-published book entitled “Armenian American Almanac” was released. This latest is his 34th publication and his first biographical work on Armenians.
