Bishop Partev Barsеghyan to head Swiss Diocese

By a decree of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Bishop Partev Barsеghyan has been relieved of his duties as head of the Gegharkunik Diocese and appointed as the new Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Switzerland.
Father Goussan Aljanian, who had been serving as Locum Tenens (interim leader) of the Swiss Diocese, has been relieved of his position by the same decree.
In a separate decision, Father Sahak Poghosyan, spiritual supervisor of Armenia’s penitentiary institutions, has been appointed as interim leader of the Gegharkunik Diocese in parallel with his current responsibilities.
Fr. Goussan Aljanyan had previously announced his support for the Armenian Church reform initiative proposed by the Prime Minister and a group of ten clergy.
