Pashinyan claims crime has decreased in Armenia, while statistics indicate an increase
“For a long time, Armenia has been recognized as a safe country in various international rankings in terms of internal security and crime. We should note with satisfaction that in 2025 we recorded a certain decrease in crime,” he said.
However, according to data cited by Aysor.am, official statistics indicate an increase in the number of registered crimes compared to previous years.
According to the figures, a total of 46,337 crimes were registered in 2025. By comparison, 40,232 crimes were registered in 2024 and 40,666 in 2023.
The National Statistical Committee (NSC), referring to data from the RA Police, specifies that of the 46,337 crimes recorded in 2025, criminal proceedings were initiated for 40,722 cases in 2025 itself, while 5,615 cases relate to crimes registered in previous years.
Previously, official reporting did not differentiate between crimes initiated in the reporting year and those initiated earlier. However, even taking this distinction into account, the 40,722 proceedings initiated in 2025 still exceed the total figures recorded in the preceding years.
