Ari Guiragos Minassian School Marks 40th Anniversary with $1.5 Million Raised Toward Strategic Campus Expansion
A surge of generosity has swept through the Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School community, turning an unexpected opportunity into a powerful moment of unity and purpose.
AGM is marking its 40th anniversary with a milestone that reflects both its advancement and the strength of its community. Faced with rising enrollment and limited classroom space, the school has long recognized the need to expand its campus.
That opportunity arrived unexpectedly this year when the property adjacent to the school became available for purchase an opening that could secure the school’s ability to welcome every student seeking an Armenian education. The goal is simple and deeply felt: to ensure that every family in Orange County that wants to give its children an Armenian education can do so without barriers.

The response from the AGM community was immediate and inspiring. In less than a month, the school’s board, administration, parents, alumni, and supporters mobilized to raise an impressive $1.5 million. This initial amount is essential to execute the purchase with financing, allowing the school to act quickly before the property is no longer available.
“When we achieve a fundraising goal like this our students hear a loud and clear message that their community supports them and is committed to their educational success,” Principal Ani Shahinian Sarkissian said.
The speed and scale of the effort underscored a shared understanding of what is at stake: the ability to provide adequate classroom space, avoid turning students away, and ensure that the school continues to grow alongside the families it serves.
The fundraising effort has become a defining moment in the school’s anniversary year. What began as a sudden opportunity has transformed into a community-wide movement, uniting generations around a common goal. The expansion is more than a construction project—it is a commitment to the future of Armenian education, culture, and identity in the region.
While the early success has brought the school significantly closer to purchasing the neighboring property, the campaign is far from over. An additional $1.8 million is still needed to complete the acquisition and eliminate any remaining debt. School leaders remain optimistic, encouraged by the momentum and generosity already demonstrated.
AGM is encouraging all community members, friends, and supporters to consider contributing to this historic effort. Every donation, large or small, brings the school one step closer to securing the space it needs for future generations. Supporters are also invited to attend the school’s 40th anniversary gala, which will be held at the Richard Nixon Library on November 14. The event will celebrate four decades of achievement while rallying the community around the school’s bright future.
As AGM looks ahead to its next 40 years, the community’s response to this campaign serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with resolve. The school’s future is being shaped today, one contribution at a time.
