Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia published statistics on domestic violence cases for 2025

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia examined 2,398 criminal proceedings on domestic violence cases in 2025 (2,207 in 2024), of which 630 were transferred from 2024.
During the reporting period, 380 criminal proceedings were sent to court with an indictment against 388 persons (in 2024: 405 criminal proceedings against 416 persons), another 7 medical compulsion proceedings were sent to court with a final act (in 2024: 4), 972 were terminated (in 2024: 735), of which 887 were on a rehabilitative basis (in 2024: 663), and 85 were on a non-rehabilitative basis (in 2024: 72), 284 were merged (in 2024: 235), 32 criminal proceedings were sent to another body (in 2024: 28), 93 were recorded as having completed procedural and evidentiary actions (in 2024: 232), 630 were transferred to 2026. Of the 375 proceedings sent to court, 3 were investigated for murder, 1 for attempted murder, 1 for infanticide by a mother, 4 for causing serious harm to health, 10 for causing moderate harm to health, 39 for causing slight harm to health, 1 for kidnapping, 4 for unlawful deprivation of liberty, 20 for mental abuse, 211 for physical abuse, 10 for sexual abuse, 1 for involving a child in committing antisocial acts, 1 for obstructing visitation between a parent or other close relative and a child, 1 for failure to fulfill or improper fulfillment of the duty of raising or caring for a child, 8 for evading alimony, 8 for failure to fulfill an urgent intervention decision or a protective order, and 52 for other crimes.
Of the 417 victims in the proceedings sent to court, 25 were under 12, 16 were 13-14, 11 were 15-18 years old, and 365 were over 18.
