Armenia’s Airspace Will Be Closed to Certain Flights from May 3–5 During Major International Summits
YEREVAN — Drone operations and other general aviation flights will be prohibited in the airspace of the Republic of Armenia from May 3 through May 5, 2026, according to Armenia’s Ccivil Aviation authorities.
- Non-commercial business flights
- Training flights
- Private flights
- Agricultural, construction, research, filming, survey, advertising, and other special-purpose service flights
- All types of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) flights
Authorities emphasized that the above restrictions do not apply to commercial scheduled or charter flights, nor to flights conducted during emergency situations. The measure is strictly limited to the specified period and is being introduced due to major large-scale events in Armenia involving numerous foreign delegations, with security cited as the primary reason.
The flight ban is being imposed because Armenia will host several high-level international events during those dates, including:
- The 8th European Political Community Summit
- The Armenia–European Union Summit
- The Yerevan Dialogue
A large number of foreign delegations are expected to attend these events, prompting heightened airspace security measures.
