The International Olympic Committee is aware of the events surrounding the Armenian National Olympic Committee and has established contact with it trying to find a solution, the International Olympic Committee told RFE/RL.
“The Committee is carefully considering all the circumstances and is trying to find appropriate solutions to protect the Armenian National Olympic Committee as a structure and to guarantee the interests of the Olympic movement and athletes in Armenia,” the press service responded to RFE/RL’s written inquiry.
Since the arrest of businessman and President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan, the doors of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia and the “Olympavan” center, which is its sports nucleus, have also been sealed.
For more than 10 days, law enforcement has not announced why they took this step and what possible abuses they have discovered there.
