The Armenian church in Istanbul has been renovated and reopened.

Ermenihaber.am The Armenian St. Karapet Church in the Skutari neighborhood of Istanbul has reopened after a long renovation. Skutari is a historic neighborhood located on the Bosphorus in the Asian part of Istanbul, where around 50,000 Armenians lived in the early 20th century.
The consecration ceremony of the church was attended by the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, Archbishop Sahak Mashalyan, Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, the president of the St. Karapet Church Foundation, Rafi Kirkoryan, the board of directors, and representatives of the clergy.
During the liturgy, Mashalyan congratulated the church’s priest, Yeghishe Uchkunyan, and wished him success. After the liturgy, a meal was served in the church courtyard. The first liturgy to be held in the church after the consecration is scheduled for July 12.
It is worth noting that days ago, an unknown person had invaded the cemetery area of St. Karapet Church and damaged 6 graves. The perpetrator was identified and arrested 48 hours later.
