Kim Kardashian’s 2015 Armenia visit was ‘scariest experience’ for ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ producers

Kim Kardashian’s 2015 visit to Armenia drew such enormous crowds that it became one of the most challenging experiences for the production team of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, according to OK!Magazine.
In his new biography, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, author Jonathan Van Meter recounts how showrunner Farnaz Farjam described the overwhelming public reaction to Kardashian and her family during their visit to their ancestral homeland.
Farjam called the trip the show’s “scariest experience” in terms of managing crowds. Kardashian was greeted by large numbers of people at her hotel, while crowds gathered in the streets to catch a glimpse of the reality television star.
“There were so many people on the streets, and you could feel the distress,” Farjam recalled, describing the atmosphere as if some people believed Kardashian had come to save them.
Kim’s sister Khloé Kardashian, who accompanied her alongside Kim’s then-husband Kanye West, also remembered the extraordinary scenes. Although the family was accustomed to large crowds, Khloé described the situation outside their hotel as “complete pandemonium.”
According to her account, people chanted Kim’s name, while one woman reportedly waited outside the hotel for two days to see her.
The visit, however, carried significance beyond the unprecedented public attention. For Kim and Khloé, traveling to Armenia offered an opportunity to connect with their Armenian heritage and explore their family roots.
The trip took place in April 2015, as Armenia marked the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. The family’s presence brought additional international attention to the country and to their Armenian ancestry.
The behind-the-scenes account is featured in Van Meter’s Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, which draws on extensive interviews with Kardashian and conversations with her family, friends and colleagues. The book explores her rise to global fame, business ventures, influence on celebrity culture and work in criminal justice reform.
