Armenia existed thousands of years before ‘Azerbaijan’ — Yaakov Kedmi
Speaking with Alpha News, Yaakov Kedmi, former head of the Israeli intelligence agency Nativ, commented on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that Armenians are not indigenous to present-day Armenia, as well as the Armenian government’s anti-church campaign.
“It turns out that Armenians aren’t indigenous to the lands they inhabit. So where did they come from? Did they arrive from the moon? Where did the Armenian people form, where was Armenia, a thousand years before anyone even heard the word ‘Azerbaijan,’ before anyone even knew anything about the Turks? Today, the same operation is underway that was carried out against Czechoslovakia. First, the Nagorno-Karabakh issue was resolved—with Pashinyan’s direct assistance. Now they’re discussing the ‘Zangezur corridor.’ They say the Azerbaijani population should return there—which means they should settle it with Azerbaijanis. And then they say Armenia has no right to exist at all, saying it’s not their land,” Kedmi said.
According to the expert, the current government is a disgrace and a tragedy for the Armenian people, continuing its efforts to destroy the Armenian state.
“Pashinyan has the audacity and foolishness to claim that the Armenian Genocide and the massacres of World War I were the work of the KGB. He argues that relations with the Turks must be reconsidered, claiming the Turks have always cared about Armenians—though more about the dead than the living. The current government is a disgrace and a tragedy for the Armenian people, and they continue their efforts to destroy the Armenian state. If this happens tomorrow, who will defend Armenia? Turkey? Macron? The Armenian people still tolerate Pashinyan, but he will tolerate it until the people remain, while the Armenian state will very confidently slide into the abyss,” Kedmi noted.
The expert described Aliyev’s statements about Armenians’ supposed non-native origins as a falsification of history designed to serve his interests.
“On what grounds? On the same grounds that Ukraine believes that Kuban is primordial Ukrainian territory. Or that Kyiv is an exclusively Ukrainian city, not the ‘mother of Russian cities.’ This is a falsification of history that is convenient to believe. Aliyev believes this because it suits him. Why is he saying this now? Because he feels powerful and sees that he can do whatever he wants with Armenia. He can mock, put forward any political distortions—and everything will go unpunished. New claims will follow—for example, the demand to return the Azerbaijanis to Armenian territory. Since Armenians, according to them, are ‘not the indigenous population,’ that means Armenia must be resettled with Azerbaijanis. And Pashinyan won’t say anything—not only about the ‘Zangezur corridor,’ but also when the Azerbaijanis start coming to Yerevan and other cities. Look at Batumi—it’s now more Turkish than Georgian. Who owns the largest commercial and other enterprises and houses in Batumi? Turks. Why not do the same with Yerevan? Just resettle it, and that’s it. Armenians will leave, Azerbaijanis will come. And who will oppose it? Pashinyan? No, he doesn’t care. No one, except the Young Turks, has ever inflicted such damage on the Armenian people as the one who currently leads Armenia,” Kedmi said.
According to the expert, the Armenian authorities want to destroy the soul of the Armenian people—the Armenian Church.
“This is a typical tactic the West has always used against all countries it wants to subjugate or destroy their resistance. First, they bribe and install their own political leadership, and second, they attack their religion, their church. They are doing this in Ukraine, and they are trying to do this now in Moldova. They tried this in Georgia, and they are doing it now in Armenia. The main thing that saved Georgia from collapse was the Georgian Church.
In Armenia, this resistance is weaker, so they must destroy the soul of the Armenian people—the Armenian Church. Reform it, do to it what Zelensky and Poroshenko did to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. And then everything will be fine. And the West, of course, always supports this,” Kadmi concluded.
