Armenian Heritage Walk to Host ‘Weekend of Celebration’ Events
PHILADELPHIA — Armenian Heritage Walk, project of Armenian Heritage Foundation of Philadelphia to create a walkway monument highlighting Armenian heritage and the Young Meher Statue adjacent to Philadelphia Museum of Art, will host three celebratory events the weekend of April 24.
An Intercommunal Church Service will be held Friday, April 24, 7 p.m., at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. This historic Service of Gratitude, Unity, and Commemoration, remembering the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide and honoring the 250th birthday of America, will unite the Armenian community in faith. The service will be presided over by Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Archbishop Anoushavan, and Bishop Mikael Mouradian, with clergy from all five Armenian churches in the Greater Philadelphia area and an Armenian community choir. A special additional ceremony will follow in an adjacent garden, for a unique moment of unity and commemoration. Transportation available.
The Armenian Heritage Walk Dedication will be held Saturday, April 25, 11 a.m., at the Philadelphia Museum of Art North Entrance. After eight years of dedicated work, craftsmanship and thoughtful planning, the Armenian Heritage Walk is ready for dedication and the revitalized Young Meher statue is set to be unveiled.
This event marks the completion of Phase One, highlighted by the installation of a nearly 15,000 square foot garden and walkway designed to accommodate additional permanent art displays for the public to enjoy for generations. All are invited to join this historic event to dedicate this meaningful new public space, created to commemorate America250, honor our Armenian heritage and share its story with the public for all to see, learn and reflect.
The Armenian Heritage Walk Gala will be held Saturday, April 25, 6 p.m., at the National Constitution Center. Join the Heritage Walk committee for an unforgettable evening to celebrate a milestone decades in the making.
This black-tie event will honor the completion of Phase One and mark the official unveiling of the Meher statue and dedication of the Armenian Heritage Walk on April 25.
