Health For Armenia hosted the “Leadership in Improving the PHC Sector” event
Doctor-leaders of Health For Armenia’s Healthcare Leadership Program presented their first-year achievements and quality improvement projects.
On November 2, Health For Armenia’s “Leadership in Improving the PHC Sector” event was held in Yerevan, during which the Doctor-leaders participating in the foundation’s Healthcare Leadership Program presented the results of their first-year quality improvement projects. The event summarized the work of the Doctor-leaders in different regions of Armenia aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of healthcare services. Among attendees were members of the HFA Board of Directors, representatives of state institutions, local and international partners, specialists, and others.
“Our doctors have reached an important milestone. After a year of participating in the program, they have become confident, strong, compassionate, reflective leaders, who are now on their way to becoming the kind of leaders our system needs. I wish them much success in today’s presentations and during the rest of the program,” said Lusine Manukyan, Executive Director of Health For Armenia, in her opening remarks.
The Healthcare Leadership Program (HLP) develops a new generation of healthcare leaders working in underserved communities. The program is designed for practicing family physicians, training them to develop leadership and management skills so they can become drivers of systemic change in their communities.
“I think we started small ripples. The ripples will get bigger as we have more graduates and as they support each other,” added HFA Board member, Professor Emerita at Duke University Medical School Dr Victoria Kaprielian, MD, FAAFP.
Health For Armenia continues its work to restore public trust in the healthcare system by building a strong community of Doctor-leaders prepared to serve the evolving primary care needs of patients in rural Armenia, as changemakers, skilled providers, and community champions. The Foundation transforms healthcare in Armenia by developing leaders, fostering innovation, and advancing systems to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all.
