Marriages drop, divorces rise in Armenia

According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, 8,985 marriages were registered nationwide from January to August 2025, marking a 13.6% decrease compared to 10,405 marriages during the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, divorces increased by 4.5%. There were 354 divorces per 1,000 marriages in 2025, compared to 292 in the same period last year, Factor.am reports.

Armenia also recorded a decline in birth rates. From January to August 2025, 20,437 children were born — 6.3% fewer than the 21,821 births during the same period in 2024.

At the same time, the number of deaths slightly increased, reaching 17,210 compared to 17,072 deaths in the first eight months of 2024
