RAA will celebrate 55th Anniversary with Gala
Research on Armenian Architecture (RAA), USA will celebrate its 55th anniversary with a gala banquet on November at the Taghlyan Complex in Hollywood.
RAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching, archiving, restoring, preserving, and disseminating knowledge about endangered Armenian architectural and cultural heritage. This includes churches, monuments, bridges, khachkars, and other cultural and religious artifacts located throughout historical Armenia — in present-day Turkey, Iran, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
RAA has amassed a digitized archive of more than 680,000 images to date — an effort which began in the 1970s by Dr. Armen Haghnazarian, an architect, engineer, and descendant of a genocide survivor, and later continued by famed monumentalist, Samvel Karapetian.
Now in its 50th year of existence, headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia, with a Los Angeles, California branch, RAA has become a vital resource for preservation and restoration initiatives, a foundation for numerous scientific works, and a strong voice in safeguarding Armenian cultural and religious heritage. RAA works with the UN and international bodies to oppose deliberate destruction and revisionism, including in the aftermath of the Artsakh war.
Durng the gala banquet, RAA willl be honoring its founding RAA-USA Board Members. Ellina Abovian of KTLA 5 News will Emcee the event, and Allen G. Orchestra will be performing.
