Retrospective Exhibition Honoring Late Artist Perry Huffman at the ZARTONK Gallery
Fresno, CA — The Armenian Museum of Fresno will present a special retrospective exhibition, Perry Huffman: Fresno’s Chameleon Artist, in tribute to the late artist. The exhibition will be on view during ArtHop on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5 to 8 PM at the ZARTONK Gallery in the HELM Building, 1107 Fulton Street, Fresno, CA 93721 in Downtown Fresno.
Perry Huffman, who passed in October, was a nationally recognized illustrator best known for his vivid, thought-provoking, and often humorous artwork featured in The Fresno Bee from 1963 to 1995. Over more than six decades, Huffman created original illustrations covering a wide spectrum of subjects—sports, global and local politics, civic and social issues, nature, agriculture, entertainment, music, and film.
Known for his versatility and artistic range, Huffman earned the title “Fresno’s Chameleon Artist.” His work ranged from whimsical and satirical to deeply serious, reflecting both the spirit of the times and the heartbeat of the Central Valley. Before joining The Fresno Bee, Huffman also submitted cover illustrations to the Saturday Evening Post, establishing his early presence in national media.
Huffman’s portraits included celebrated figures such as Will Rogers, Ronald Reagan, James Garner, and many more. His illustrations became cherished cultural touchstones—capturing moments in history with wit, insight, and brilliant visual storytelling.
“Perry’s work reflected a lifetime of observation, compassion, humor, and truth,” said Armenian Museum of Fresno Director, Varoujan Der Simonian. “This exhibition is a celebration of his legacy and a gift back to the community that inspired him.”
The retrospective will feature original artwork, archival illustrations, and rarely seen pieces from Huffman’s personal collection. In keeping with his generous spirit, signed prints of his artwork—available in various sizes—will be offered for purchase, with proceeds benefiting local fundraising efforts.
Some of Huffman’s works are on permanent display at the Armenian Museum of Fresno located in the UC Building at 550 E Shaw Ave, Fresno (across from Fashion Fair Mall).
