The film “Golden Double” about the legendary Ararat-73 will be released in Armenia
Starting February 5, Armenian cinemas will begin screening the feature film “Golden Double”, dedicated to the legendary Ararat team of 1973. In Armenia, the film will be released under the title “Ararat 73”.
It should be noted that the film will be released earlier in Russia — starting January 29.
The film is dedicated to the memory of Nikita Pavlovich Simonyan — a great footballer, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, and an outstanding coach. The story focuses on one of the brightest chapters in Soviet football history: the 1973 season, when Yerevan’s Ararat, under Simonyan’s leadership, achieved the greatest success in its history by completing the “golden double,” winning both the USSR Championship and the USSR Cup.
The role of Nikita Simonyan is played by the well-known Russian actor Egor Beroev. The film is directed by Mher Mkrtchyan and Fyodor Lyass.
Former Armenia national team footballer David Manoyan also took part in the filming, portraying Ararat defender Alexander Kovalenko.
“Golden Double” / “Ararat 73” is not only a sports drama, but also a tribute to a team and a personality whose names are forever engraved in the history of Armenian and Soviet football.
