US President Donald Trump sent Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev photos with the caption: “Ilham, you are a great leader.” Aliyev announced this on his social media page, according to Lenta.ru.
In the photos sent by the American leader, Trump, Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are holding hands after signing an initialed agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, brokered by the US.
“I greatly appreciate President Trump’s steadfast support for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and for advancing the peace agenda between the two countries and globally. I would like to once again extend my sincere thanks to him for these efforts,” Aliyev wrote.
On August 8, Donald Trump, Nikol Pashinyan, and Ilham Aliyev signed an initialed agreement on the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Yerevan and Baku at the White House.
