U.S. ambassador to leave Armenia mid-January
“In response to media inquiries, we confirm that Ambassador Kvien will conclude her assignment in Armenia in mid-January. U.S. policy toward Armenia will not change following her departure,” the statement reads.
The U.S. remains committed to its partnership with Armenia and looks forward to further developing the strategic relationship. This includes implementing the bilateral agreements signed by President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan during the historic peace summit held in Washington on August 8.
Earlier reports indicated that President Trump had ordered the recall of 29 ambassadors from various countries, including Armenia. All were appointed during President Joe Biden’s term. According to the Associated Press, the decision aligns with the view that ambassadors are “the president’s personal representatives” and should advance the America First agenda.
