U.S. to donate $1.2 million equipment to Armenia’s National Security Service
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence will provide the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia with technical equipment as part of a program to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Factor.am reports.
The donated equipment is set to be transferred to Armenia within two months and is valued at $1.2 million. The package includes personal dosimeters, protective suits, footwear, gloves, a thermal imaging monocular, a receiver with earphone antenna, and systems for detecting explosives and narcotics, among other items.
Maintenance and operational expenses for the equipment will be covered by funds allocated to the NSS from Armenia’s state budget.
