ABMDR honored with Civic and Community Impact Award

Los Angeles — The Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) has received Business Life Magazine’s Civic and Community Impact Award.
The award was presented to ABMDR on May 21, 2025, during the John Krikorian Legacy Luncheon, in celebration of Business Life Magazine’s 35th anniversary. The event took place at Castaways, in Burbank, California.
“Honoring leadership, vision, and dedication to community and business excellence,” the 2025 Business Life awards recognized numerous outstanding individuals, civic organizations, and businesses from throughout Southern California.
Accepting the Civic and Community Impact Award on behalf of ABMDR was Dr. Frieda Jordan, president of the organization. She was accompanied at the event by several ABMDR Board members and volunteers. The award was presented to Dr. Jordan by Greg Krikorian, publisher of Business Life Magazine.
“AMBDR salutes Business Life Magazine on the occasion of its 35th anniversary,” Dr. Jordan said in her acceptance remarks. “This is a significant milestone, and a joyous one in which our entire community can take pride.”
“We at ABMDR are deeply honored to receive the magazine’s Civic and Community Impact Award,” Dr. Jordan continued. “Since the founding of ABMDR in 1999, we have had a wonderful bond with Business Life – a bond defined by the publication’s advocacy of community engagement, grassroots causes, and volunteerism, all of which are at the core of the life-saving mission of ABMDR. We also appreciate Business Life’s acknowledgement of our work by conferring various achievement awards on numerous ABMDR volunteers in recognition of their dedicated work.”
ABMDR has helped save lives across the world ever since its inception 26 years ago. As a pan-Armenian organization run entirely by volunteers, the organization matches bone marrow stem cell donors with patients who need to undergo transplantation in order to survive life-threatening blood-related illnesses.
As significantly, ABMDR has grown into a globally-recognized medical and research organization, with a Lab in Yerevan whose work encompasses the fields of immunogenetics, transplantation, and training, thus contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Armenia. The ABMDR Lab is the only one of its type in the whole of the Caucasus, and the only one to be accredited by the European Federation for Immunogenetics.
The Business Life honorees also included Dr. Ramella Markarian, who received the John Krikorian Legacy Award. Dr. Markarian is the vice president of Adventist Health Systems and a member of ABMDR’s Board of Directors.
