Arman Tsarukyan Set For First UFC Lightweight Title Shot With Islam Makhachev Rematch
The Arman Tsarukyan next fight is fast approaching, as the Armenian MMA superstar rematches Islam Makhachev in the UFC 311 main event for the UFC Lightweight Title.
Arman Tsarukyan is one of the most in-form fighters on the entire UFC roster as of today. ‘Akhalkalakets’ has campaigned in the UFC for six years now, having 11 fights to date in the organisation which includes nine wins and just two defeats.
There is no doubt that Tsarukyan is one of the best 155-pound fighters in the world, and will be determined to get to the very pinnacle of the lightweight division in his next fight.
Arman Tsarukyan’s record is currently an impressive 22-3. This consists of nine knockout victories, five submissions and just eight decision wins. The 28-year-old is also widely regarded as one of the very best lightweights in the world right now, with an astute skillset and undoubted ability.
UFC fans last saw the Armenian MMA phenomenon in action at UFC 300, where he defeated former champion Charles Oliveira via split decision. The fight was extremely close, with Tsarukyan getting the nod which has set up his maiden UFC Lightweight Title shot next.
It has been officially announced that the Arman Tsarukyan next fight will be against Islam Makhachev on January 18 in California. The fight headlines at the Intuit Dome in a scintillating rematch for the UFC Lightweight Title in the first pay-per-view event of the year.
First time around back in April 2019, Makhachev defeated Tsarukyan via decision. Now, the rematch takes center stage in the UFC 311 main event, with the 155-pound belt on the line too. Their first fight was Tsarukyan’s UFC debut, so he is a far better and more experienced fighter now ahead of the rematch.
Could Tsarukyan Fight Charles Oliveira Again In 2025 Rematch?
UFC President Dana White will be hopeful of an active 2025 for Arman Tsarukyan. Although he is the underdog against Islam Makhachev, who is of course the UFC pound-for-pound king, the 28-year-old is more than capable of getting the job done.
Whether Tsarukyan does or doesn’t win his next fight or not, there are some names around the top of the lightweight division who he could face next. Of course, if he beats Makhachev and becomes champion, a trilogy bout would be likely immediately.
That is unless Charles Oliveira gets a shot at the 155-pound belt again, whether that be a rematch with Tsarukyan or Makhachev. For the challenger, he could also face ‘Do Bronx’ in a rematch, even if he was to lose in the UFC 311 main event to the champion.
If ‘Akhalkalakets’ wins, which the best UFC betting sites in the UK don’t think he will do against the P4P king, he will have the lightweight division at his feet. Not to mention he would go down as the man to end the dominant era of Islam Makhachev.
In regards to the Arman Tsarukyan next fight after Makhachev, a Charles Oliveira rematch makes sense whether he wins or loses, as does a Mateusz Gamrot rematch. Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier could also be in the mix for Tsarukyan next.
Time will tell what happens with Arman Tsarukyan in regards to his next fight after his maiden UFC Lightweight Title shot. He is firmly up against it, but most definitely has the skillset required to dethrone the dominant champion and claim UFC gold at the first time of asking.
