Armenian Orthodox Diocese calls for severe punishment of perpetrators after murder of Archimandrite

In a statement, the Diocese expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, saying: “With great sadness and grief, the Armenian Orthodox Diocese in Lebanon announces the passing of Archimandrite Anania Koganian to the embrace of the Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 1, 2025, following a painful incident and a fatal attack.
The President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun, made a phone call to Armenian Orthodox Catholicos Aram I Keshishian, offering his deepest condolences over the killing of the Deputy Archbishop of the Armenian Orthodox in Lebanon in charge of managing the community’s affairs in Zahle and Anjar, Archimandrite Anania Koujanian, who was the victim of a heinous crime in his home in Bsalim.
President Aoun strongly condemned the crime and reassured Catholicos Aram I that the security apparatuses are pursuing their investigations to uncover the crime’s circumstances, arrest the perpetrators, and refer them to the concerned judiciary for severe punishment.
