Armenia’s first satellite, Armsat-1, has begun its descent to Earth, marking the completion of the country’s first satellite mission, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry reported on Saturday.
Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan described the launch as a bold and strategic step that brought Armenia into the space era, underlining the importance of space technologies for national development and security.
Over the past three and a half years, Armsat-1 has provided numerous satellite images of Armenia and its surrounding region, supporting both scientific research and practical applications. The mission also helped train a new generation of Armenian space specialists, laying the groundwork for future satellite projects.
Data and experience gained from Armsat-1 are now being used in the design of new Earth observation and communications satellites. Technical requirements for Armsat-2 have already been defined, with active collaboration underway with international partners.
The ministry expressed gratitude to all organizations, experts and media involved in the mission, emphasizing Armenia’s commitment to advancing its national space program.
