ARMISTICE DAY AND ARMENIAN REGGAE – CONGRATULATIONS GARINE ADAMS
It is Veterans Day. We remember those who have served for the defense of our country. We remember those who gave their lives for our country. And it is a day when we remember the end of World War One. And on this day, I want to pause and express my gratitude to Garine Adams, a junior, who has produced an amazing album that reminds us all of the still too often unacknowledged victims of that war – the Armenian people.
It was back in October that I learned about this album from an Armenian Reggae band called Hye & Mighty. Garine Adams is a member of the band. Apparently, it took seven years to bring this first album together. Garine explained that “it is a mixture of Armenian and English lyrics alongside the musical styles of Reggae, Armenian Folk, Rock, and Ska. The content is primarily Christian and highlights the plight of the Armenian experience.” You can buy it here.
I enjoyed listening to the album and was very impressed. There is a passion and energy that is captivating. The suffering of the Armenian people remains often unacknowledged. I was grateful to sit with this music for a time. Thank you Garine for sharing this powerful music with the VTS community.
