Azeris protest against Cong. Frank Pallone’s visit to Baku
Pallone, known for his pro-Armenian views as well as accusations of corruption and financial misconduct by Azeri leaders, faced calls for public apologies from the Azeri protesters.
According to the protesters, Pallone’s invitation by the UN to participate in the global climate change conference, COP29, “was a disgrace to the event.”
“During the protest, Pallone’s security guards tried to protect him from the hostile and aggressive Azeri protesters, while the Azeri police stood by and allowed the protesters to continue attacking him. The protesters even dared to harass Pallone in his hotel with no action taken by the Azeri police, leading to the conclusion that this so-called protest was organized and sanctioned by the government of Azerbaijan.
“We, as representatives of NGOs involved in the peaceful protest, demand a comprehensive investigation into the incident, including a review of photographic and video evidence, and urge the criminal prosecution of Frank Pallone’s security personnel,” the protesters demanded.
