Carousel Restaurant Celebrates 40 Years with a Renovation That Honors Its Roots
GLENDALE / LOS ANGELES, CA — Carousel Restaurant is marking 40 years in Los Angeles with a renovation at its Glendale location that feels less like a reveal and more like a natural progression. The kind that happens when a place has been lived in long enough to know exactly what needs attention and what should never be touched.
“The priority was to maintain that lived-in, no-fuss sense of ease,” said owner Rosalie Tcholakian.
Carousel’s longevity is tied to consistency. The menu has remained rooted in the same approach to Middle Eastern cooking, and the atmosphere has always been built around how people actually dine there. Groups arrive together, order for the table, and stay. That pattern has held for four decades.
Over the years, Carousel has developed a wide following across Los Angeles. Locals return regularly, and visitors are often brought in by friends who treat it as a reliable point of reference. The restaurant has also become a familiar stop for athletes, entertainers, and industry regulars, drawn by the food and the fact that the room never changes its tone for anyone.
Instead, the update focuses on the physical space. The dining room, bar, and private dining areas have been refreshed with new finishes and lighting. The bar has been given more presence within the room. Private dining spaces have been updated to better accommodate celebrations and large groups, which have always been a core part of how Carousel operates. The layout remains familiar. Tables still move. Groups still grow. The room still feels the way it always has, gradually and all at once.
“Our focus has always been the food, and everything we serve is made in-house from scratch, ”said owner Mihran Tcholakian. “We’re very specific about how it’s prepared, and that consistency is something we don’t plan on changing.”
After four decades, Carousel’s role has stayed largely the same. It remains a place built around groups, familiarity, and repeat visits. The anniversary serves less as a reset and more as a marker of how long the restaurant has been part of everyday dining life in Los Angeles.
