Carpet Weavers Poems: Presentation & Book Signing in Fresno
· January 8, 2025
FRESNO, CA — A book signing event for a recently published poetry book, CARPET WEAVERS, Poems by Brenda Najimian Magarity, will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Armenian Museum of Fresno located at the University of California Center in Fresno, California.
Born in Fresno, Brenda Najimian Magarity is a second-generation Armenian American, the daughter of a homemaker, and a dry-cleaner/hat-blocker. When she was in her mid-twenties, she became the driver for author William Saroyan. This friendship increased her passion for writing and her interest in her Armenian heritage. A former high school English teacher, she has published poetry, essays, and stories in various online and literary journals and has participated in two documentaries about Saroyan.
“Within these poems, Brenda Najimian Magarity’s deep reflections of her inner being are a testimony of her longing for a homeland that was taken away from her ancestors a century before – the soul of that motherland itself lives in her, rising again and again through tribulations of the times,” Varoujan Der Simonian, President, Armenian Museum of Fresno, said.
Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Armenian Museum of Fresno, housed at the UC Center, 550 E. Shaw Avenue, Suite 130, Fresno, 93710. The building is located directly across the street from Fashion Fair. Please use the Shaw Avenue (main) entrance. Refreshments will be served.
