Community organizations of Syria’s Latakia urge Armenians to stay at home
The armed clashes these days in some coastal regions of Syria, especially in the main port of Latakia, are also affecting the large Armenian population living there, reports Arevelk news agency.
There are casualties and injuries as a result of clashes between Syrian security forces and armed groups in the coastal regions. These clashes have reached the center of Latakia.
The militants are supporters of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and they have killed more than 15 security personnel. According to media reports, the number of casualties on both sides exceeds 70.
The Armenian community organizations of Latakia are closed, and they have urged residents to stay at home and not go out.
The Latakia-Tartus motorway is closed, and a curfew is periodically declared in the region.
