Court refuses to detain former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan

A court in Yerevan denied a motion to remand former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan in custody, instead placing him under house arrest on Saturday.
Abrahamyan has been charged with abuse of power and money laundering.
His lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, argued that the accusations were baseless and emphasized that Abrahamyan had previously faced similar charges in 2018-2019, complying with all legal requirements without obstructing the investigation.
The court ruled that pre-trial detention was unwarranted and imposed house arrest on him as a measure of restraint.
