Daron Acemoglu donates one of his mother’s mementos to Nobel Prize Museum

“This paperweight was donated to the Nobel Prize Museum by Daron Acemoglu, 2024 laureate in economic sciences. His donation holds great significance for our collection, as it is one of the few remaining mementos he possesses from his mother,” a post on X said.
“Acemoglu was raised in Istanbul in a family of Armenian descent. His mother, Irma Acemoglu, served as a teacher and the headmistress of his Armenian school, where she actively encouraged his academic pursuits. Irma Acemoglu passed away in 1991,” the statement added.
