Former Glendale School Board President Krikorian is a Candidate Once Again
Glendale, CA — I was first elected to the Glendale Unified School District Board of Education in 2001, and I am proud to have served more than 22 years — the longest tenure in GUSD history.
In July 2022, I chose not to seek reelection. Since then, I have watched our school board lose focus on its core responsibilities: student safety and financial stability.
Just this past month, our community experienced every parent’s worst nightmare when a GUSD special education assistant was charged with child sexual abuse at Glenoaks Elementary and worked at Columbus Elementary Schools.( Reported on February 5, 2026 CBS Los Angeles News)
As a father of five and grandfather of four, this hits close to home. Our schools must be safe — period. It is deeply concerning that some board members are more focused on partisan politics than on working with the Glendale Police Department and maintaining School Resource Officers on our campuses.
In 2022, four of the five board members were of Armenian descent. By June 2026, there may be no Armenian American representation on the Glendale School Board — despite Armenians making up more than 40% of the district’s students and staff.
That is why I am announcing my candidacy for Glendale School Board District B in the June 2 primary election. Our community must come together to ensure strong leadership and a clear voice for our families.
As a 36-year Glendale resident, small business owner, father of five GUSD graduates, and grandfather of four, education has always been central to my life. I am a second-generation Armenian American; all four of my grandparents survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and came to America as orphans.
During my 22 years on the Board, we prioritized safety, academic excellence, and fiscal responsibility while serving more than 27,000 students and 2,800 staff members. We invested over $800 million in modern classrooms, technology, athletic facilities, and campus improvements through Bond Measures K and S.
I helped establish the first public school Armenian Heritage Dual Language Immersion programs in the United States at Jefferson and RD White Elementary Schools and expanded Armenian language courses to every GUSD high school. We also recognized Armenian Christmas and April 24 with school closures and supported annual student-led Armenian Genocide commemorations and leadership initiatives that fostered civic pride and unity.
Now, I am running to restore stability, rebuild trust, and refocus our district on what matters most: safe schools and strong academics.
It’s time to restore confidence in our schools.
It’s time to get back to the ABCs.
Join us on June 2. Vote Greg Krikorian for School Board District B.
