Galya Sargsyan: How Emigration from Armenia Turned into Success in Czech Republic

By Marine Sarkisjan
It’s never too late to start.
The story of a strong woman who found a second chance in the Czech Republic – after the difficult decision to leave chaotic post-Soviet Armenia in the 1990s.
From a rented two-bedroom flat in Vysočina to running a company that sews for all of Europe.
Galya came to the Czech Republic with her family, without knowing the language, without property – only with a craft that kept them afloat.
She started in a community center with five women and her first uncertain order.
She had never sewn swimsuits before – but she managed it.
Today, thirty years later, she leads 60 seamstresses, owns a luxury lingerie brand, and has created a Baťa-inspired model that provides both work and housing for the people around her.
At 73, she is not planning to retire – and even her sons envy her energy.
“Always give a little more than expected; put your whole self into it.”
This approach turned the chaos of emigration into a success story that now sews not only lingerie but also a future.
It’s never too late to start. It’s never too late to change your life.
Galya is proof that courage and heart can change not only one’s life but entire communities.
And so, from a tiny stitch pulled in a foreign land, a story was created that now holds together dreams, families, and the future.
From one stitch came a life.
