Glendale’s Vladimir Akopian Wins Senior U.S. Chess National Championship
Armenian chess grandmaster Vladimir Akopian has won the 2024 U.S. Senior Chess Championship, held in St. Louis, Missouri.
Akopian is three-time World Chess Olympiad champion and the winner of the 8th World Team Chess Championship, participating, at the time, as part of team Armenia,
The 52-year-old grandmaster, who lives in Glendale, CA, scored 7 points and was undefeated.
Chess grandmaster Melikset Khachiyan finished in sixth place at the event, with a total of 4 points.
