Karekin II receives U.S. delegates attending Prayer Breakfast
Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin American figures who arrived in Armenia to participate in the Prayer Breakfast.
The guests included former U.S. Congressman Randy Hultgren, U.S. National Prayer Breakfast co-organizer Wes Anderson, and Spryng Energy CEO Dan Alexander. They were accompanied by Ashot Tunyan, a benefactor of the Mother See.
The guests arrived in Armenia to participate in the Prayer Breakfast scheduled to take place in Yerevan on October 2-3 and, on that occasion, also visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to learn more about the history and activities of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
The meeting addressed the Armenian Church’s mission of spiritual salvation and preservation of national identity, highlighting its exceptional role in shaping and preserving the Armenian people’s spiritual culture and national identity.
The participants emphasized the role of faith and spiritual values in the lives of individuals and society, as well as the Christian education of young people and the younger generation and their active participation in church life as a foundation for strengthening society’s moral values and building a peaceful future.
Following last year’s inaugural event, the Prayer Breakfast is expected to deepen dialogue at the intersection of faith and public life. Nikol Pashinyan will deliver the keynote address at the conference, followed by reflections and prayers from religious and political leaders.
Earlier, a report titled “On the crisis that emerged in the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church as a result of the activities of its de facto head and several high-ranking clergy and ways to resolve it” was published. As a first step, it proposes forming a Reform Coordination Group involving clergy and laypeople and publishing a procedure for expanding its membership. As a second step, it proposes the “removal of the de facto head” of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
