Ken Khachigian to Launch Book on July 23: “Behind Closed Doors – In the Room with Reagan & Nixon”
Los Angeles, CA – In his new book, Ken Khachigian takes readers behind the scenes as two political legends – Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon – navigated crises, confronted opponents and staked their legacies. He opens his personal diaries to reveal a fascinating account inside the Oval Office, Air Force One, Camp David and the Western White House.
The Richard Nixon Library Foundation announced it will host the launch of the new book – Behind Closed Doors – In the Room with Reagan & Nixon – on July 23 with a program followed by a book signing.
Khachigian provides an inside look into the White House and the highest levels of government through the eyes of the son of a genocide survivor. He is credited with behind-the-scenes efforts to have President Reagan become the first U.S. President to refer to the Armenian Genocide.
The trusted confidant, adviser, counselor and speechwriter to the presidential giants and political legends of the Cold War was called an “architect of Reagan’s 1980 White House victory” and has served in nine presidential campaigns. Richard Nixon relied on Khachigian’s counsel throughout his post-presidency, and he was critical to Governor George Deukmejian’s political victories as his closest political strategist.
In Behind Closed Doors, readers are invited to the West Wing during the final weeks leading to President Nixon’s resignation and to San Clemente, California where the former president worked to rebuild his shattered reputation. Khachigian shares the first details of his leading role in preparing Nixon to confront David Frost in historic television interviews.
