Kim Kardashian Identified As “Asian” In A Recent Instagram Story, And Her Followers Can’t Hide Their Surprise
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kim Kardashian identified as “Asian” in a recent Instagram story, but it’s not as random as you might think.

For reference, followers picked up on this piece of information when Kim documented her recent trip to a head spa on social media. The star filmed for Instagram as her scalp was analyzed ahead of the treatment, and her name, sex, age, and ethnicity were detailed at the top of the screen, reading: “Kim Kardashian / Female / 44 / Asian.”

Sharing the screenshot to a Reddit forum, one of Kim’s followers admitted: “Didn’t know Kim identifies herself as Asian,” going on to add: “Before yall come for me, I know she’s half Armenian and Armenia is in Asia. Never thought of her identifying as Asian so was a [bit] surprised.”

“guess it would be strange for her to fully identify as white when that’s not completely true,” somebody else mused. “her father wasn’t white (obv), she was close to him, and she did grow up somewhat connected to her Armenian identity. i definitely find it surprising too, but it makes sense.”
“Looked into it; I guess it’s a hair type used in hair treatment; cause looking at the story it’s like they are doing treatments on her so I guess her hair falls into the Asian category,” somebody else added.
While one more wrote: “That’s pretty cool actually. For anyone confused, Armenians are ‘west Asians’ or EurAsians.”
For reference, while Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner, is of Scottish and Dutch heritage, her dad, Robert Kardashian, was Armenian, making Kim and her siblings, who grew up in Los Angeles, half-Armenian.
Although Armenians are more closely associated with Asian cultures and history, Armenia’s geographical location sometimes sees Armenian people identify as European instead of West Asian.
While it is located in the South Caucasus region of the Armenian Highlands in Western Asia, and shares a border with the Middle Eastern country Iran, it is also bordered by the European countries Turkey and Georgia, as well as Azerbaijan, which is a “Eurasian” country that spans both Europe and Asia.
