Macron used Armenians against Russia as “useful idiots” — French expert
EurAsia Daily
French President Emmanuel Macron convinced Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to submit to In order to strike at Russia and force it either to get involved in the war in the Caucasus, or to retreat. According to Arthur Khachikian, a doctor of political science at Stanford University, it was Macron’s revenge for Putin squeezing France out of Africa. “Armenians have once again become a victim of European hypocrites,” Arthur Khachikian, a doctor of political science at Stanford University, writes in his Telegram channel. In support of this version, he cites an excerpt from an interview with Dickran Yegavian, a French researcher of international relations at the Christian Institute of Geopolitics in Paris, a graduate student at the Institute of Political Sciences of France.
Here is an excerpt from Yegavian’s interview:
— Why do you think Macron was sitting next to this man [Nikol Pashinyan] when he surrendered Karabakh to Prague together with 120,000 people who have become refugees?
Dickran Yegavian: You have to understand that France is waging a hybrid war against Russia. France’s Achilles heel is French—speaking Africa. Russia is destabilizing France in Africa. This is a war where everything is allowed. There was an escalation. Armenia has presented an opportunity for France to strike back at Russia. France was very annoyed by the loss of diplomatic influence in the Minsk Group (OSCE). Macron wanted to strike back at Russia in the post-Soviet space, and Armenia, the most fragile state in the Caucasus, was the easiest target. Armenians were “useful idiots” in this war. They were used as a tool, as an object. That is why Macron is interested in Armenia.
— So we can say that Macron sacrificed Armenians to take revenge on Putin?
Dickran Yegavian: I would say differently: he abandoned the Armenians. But, unfortunately, this is nothing new. Armenians are an emotional people, and international relations do not work on emotions. In the past, France abandoned the Armenians in Cilicia in 1921 and in The Alexandria Sanjak in 1939. The heroes of Musa Dagh were rescued by French ships by a decision of the low-level French military command, without consulting the ministry. The story was then rewritten.
