Pashinyan and Erdogan to Meet in New York, Turkish Press Reports
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey will reportedly meet with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, Turkish media reported on Monday.
Both Erdogan and Pashinyan are in New York, where the Armenian prime minister spoke on Monday at the UN Summit of the Future, an event being held in conjunction with the General Assembly.
The Turkish media reported that Erdogan will also meet with President Masoud Pezeskhian of Iran, among other leaders.
Erdogan reflected on what he called a great opportunity for stability in the region when speaking to representatives of American think tanks at an event at the Turkish House on Monday, the Anadolu news agency reported.
Erdogan spoke about the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that, together with Azerbaijan and Armenia, they have attained an important opportunity to achieve permanent peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
He stated that the main principles for Turkey are the strengthening of friendship, reducing disagreements and ensuring peace, and that Turkey considers respect for international law, state sovereignty, and territorial integrity as a mandatory condition.
