For fifty-five years, RAA has led the monumental effort to research, document, and preserve the architectural heritage of the Armenian people. Its archive now comprises more than 680,000 photographs, 4,000 architectural measurements, extensive field notes, and a monumental 36-volume scholarly series dedicated to the districts of Historical Armenia. From sacred monasteries and intricately carved khatchkars to ancient bridges and settlements, RAA’s work protects both the visible structures and the invisible threads of Armenian identity. Under the leadership of founder Dr. Armen Haghnazarian, and through the contributions of experts such as the late Samvel Karapetyan, RAA’s work expanded throughout Historical Armenia and Artsakh, ensuring that countless monuments were recorded and preserved for future generations.
As RAA moves forward, the organization remains dedicated to advancing its digital archives, strengthening preservation research, expanding educational outreach, and empowering rising generations to become stewards of their cultural heritage. |
