In the first half of 2026, a total of 10,561 residence permits were granted to foreigners in Armenia, compared to 6,656 in the same period of 2025; the total indicator increased by 59%, the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

A total of 8,181 people received temporary residence permits, among whom the citizens of Russia, India and Iran predominated. A total of 6,085 of them received temporary residence permits on the basis of employment. The leaders in the number of applications for residence permits on the basis of employment were the nationals of Vietnam, Iran, China, and India.

A total of 2,085 people received permanent residence permits. Here too, Russian citizens were in the lead, with 1,233 people, followed by the nationals of Georgia and Iran. A total of 295 people received special residence status.

The largest number in this group was made up of citizens of Syria, Russia and Iran. The overall picture shows that among foreigners who received residence status in Armenia, the share of Russian citizens is considerable, especially among those who received permanent residence status.

In the first half of 2026, the total amount of residence statuses in the country increased by 59% compared to the same period of the previous year. A significant part of this growth is due to the increase in the number of temporary residence statuses granted in Armenia on the basis of employment.
