Specialists at the Dagestan department of Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, have banned the import of 152 tons of products from Azerbaijan, reports Moskovskij Komsomolets daily. These are nine batches of vegetable products.
During the inspection of documents at the Yarag-Kazmalyar and Tagirkent-Kazmalyar international border checkpoints, it was found that products with invalid phytosanitary certificates were being imported from Azerbaijan. The products were returned to the exporting country.
In addition, during a double inspection at the Vyaduk customs and logistics terminal, pests were found in 18 batches of more than 400 tons of tomatoes, potatoes, and apples arriving from Azerbaijan. These contaminated products were sent for disinfection and released into free circulation only after double inspection.
