Shant Sahakian Named President of Glendale Board of Education

GLENDALE–The Glendale Unified Board of Education completed its annual rotation of officers on Tuesday. Shant Sahakian assumed the role of Board President for 2023-24, and Neda Farid and Telly Tse were sworn in as newly elected members.

Board President Sahakian was elected to the Glendale Unified Board of Education in 2017. He is a lifelong resident of the City of Glendale, a GUSD alumnus, and the parent of two current GUSD students. As a board member, he has championed academic, financial literacy, and career and technical education programs that prepare students for success in college, career, and life. He is an advocate for healthy, safe, and inclusive schools for all and is deeply committed to responsible governance, transparency, and accountability.

In addition to serving locally, Sahakian represents GUSD and surrounding school districts at the state level as a member of the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly.
