Trump Nominates Mehmet Oz’s Sister as Deputy Secretary of Transportation

Washington — Another name of Turkish origin is being added to the cabinet of President Donald Trump in his second term.
Seval Öz, the sister of heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Öz, has been nominated for a newly created Deputy Secretary position of Secretary of Transportation. Seval Öz’s nomination was forwarded to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Mehmet Oz will be the first person of Turkish and American citizenship to become a Cabinet member. He is nominated to be the administrator for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Öz brother and sister are the children of a family that immigrated to the US from the Bozkır district of Konya, Turkey.
