UEFA Nations League: Armenia Beats Latvia 2-1
Armenia secured a victory over Latvia in a UEFA Nations League match and took three points.
First Half
The match began with both teams showing energy and balance in both defense and attack. Midway through the first half, Latvia posed the most significant threat with a dangerous offensive play.
However, in the final nine minutes of the half, Armenia gained the upper hand, taking control of the game. Despite the action, the first half ended without a single goal.
Second Half
The second half got off to a strong start for team Armenia. Early, in the 47th minute, Eduard Spertsyan received a precise pass from Lukas Selarayan to break the deadlock with a powerful header and opened the match’s score.
However, things began to go Latvia’s way in the second half too. Soon they managed to respond to their opponents and Uldriķis’ goal balanced the score in the 71st minute.
Artur Miranyan scored his first goal for Armenia, sending the ball into Latvia’s net in the final moments of the match. His strike secured the win for the team.
Armenia and Latvia faced off in two matches this season with the former in the 2nd place and the latter in the 4th. Overall, the Armenian team was leading the game.

It’s worth noting that in their previous match with the Faroe Islands, Armenia lost the game 1-0. And for this match, they had to be well prepared after the defeat.
According to a report by 168.am, Ognen Chancharevich, the goalkeeper of the national football team of Armenia, believed that the team would do its best and said during the pre-match meeting with journalists, “Everyone understands that the defeat against the Faroe Islands was difficult for us. It is good that the match with Latvia is a few days after that game, and we are approaching the game with maximum concentration. We will try to achieve a good result.”
Result
The Armenian team is now in second place in the group standings, with North Macedonia leading the table with 16 points. The Faroe Islands hold third place, while Latvia closes the table.
