Update on TAAL’s letter for META to ban denial of the Armenian Genocide

Following Truth And Accountability League (TAAL)’s letter to Mark Zuckerbergon to have Meta ban Armenian Genocide denial across its platforms, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a leading digital rights organization often described as the ACLU of the digital world, got in touch with me to let me know that the matter has been forwarded for internal review by their relevant policy teams.

 

EFF’s work has long shaped how technology companies, policymakers, and courts think about content moderation, digital rights, and the line between harmful disinformation and protected speech. Their decision to review this issue signals that concerns about selective genocide-denial enforcement on major platforms are being examined through a serious and principled digital-rights lens.

 

While this does not constitute a formal position, it represents meaningful progress. TAAL’s advocacy is being heard, evaluated, and taken seriously by institutions that influence how online platforms are governed and held accountable.
